In response to the anon saying a woman is being spiteful if she still decides to abort even if a dude is willing to raise the kid:

You are welcome to kiss my entire ass.

It’s not just about raising a kid. Pregnancy and childbirth are dangerous medical conditions. Even if a dude wants to raise any resulting child, it would still be the pregnant person putting their health on the line. Let’s also not forget that pregnant people are more likely to be victims of homicide.

Also, while it’s technically illegal, many businesses find ways of firing or letting go pregnant people. Especially lower wage jobs where it would be easier for the employer to get a new hire than it would be to reserve a position for an employee who is pregnant and possibly facing recovery time or increased risk of health problems.

And the final thought: I do not give a FUCK if some dude wants to raise the resulting kid. If a person does not want to be pregnant for any reason, that is their right. It is not spiteful to decide you don’t want to put your body through that trauma or rearrange your life so some dude can be a daddy.

Chances are that dude will get another shot at being a father.

We are not incubators. Fuck off, anon.

Bro-choice - Jon Stewart

Al Madrigal reports on location from Oklahoma, where a proposed amendment to its “personhood” bill would effectively outlaw male masturbation.

I was disturbed by many of the comments.  It seemed that people don’t understand satire and the double standard being played here.

A clinic’s landlord turns the tables on anti-abortion protesters

…his harassers crossed the line last fall, when a big group showed up at his daughter’s middle school on the first day of classes and again at back-to-school night. They had signs with his name and contact information as well as those awful images of the fetuses.

“What parent wants to have that conversation with an 11-year-old on the first day of school?” he fumed.

Soon after that, the harassing calls from protesters started coming to his home. By the dozens, at all hours. Friends asked him how they could help. He began to take the names and phone numbers down of anyone who contacted him with an unwanted call. And he gave those lists to his friends and asked them to call these folks back.

You get what you give!

Harassing children means you don’t actually care about children. Antichoice hypocrisy at its finest.

Maybe they’re antichoice because more unwanted babies means more children to harass.

To borrow a gif from Ann Friedman’s epic piece today…

h/t @scATX

This is NOT the moment where we make statements like, “Oh, that’s just Arizona. Why don’t people move? What more do you expect? Oh well. *shrugs*.” Because you know who that helps? NO ONE. And you know what that make Arizonans who need/want access to abortion care feel like? Not important.

So, let’s make as much noise as possible. Don’t let this go by without us showing that we see, that we are watching, THAT WE CARE.

SIGNAL BOOST.

[NB: This law will affect more people than just cis women.]

It would appear that several states already have this shield law in place: Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Utah.

MIND BOGGLING.

Healthcare professionals are legally protected if they withhold information about a pregnancy? No. NO. NO.

I CAN’T EVEN!!!!!

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

So much for “First do no harm” huh?

"When the woman answered the door, she looked at my daughter and said, ‘We don’t support Girl Scouts because they support abortion, which kills babies.’"

Girl Scout troop leader Kim Douglas • Discussing a recent situation her 10-year-old daughter faced when going door-to-door to sell cookies. Douglas’ daughter, by the way, didn’t know what abortion was. “It left my daughter very shocked, confused,” Douglas said. “She said, ‘Mommy, something creepy happened to me.’” By the way: The Girl Scouts, which have faced much culture war heat of late (including this guy we posted about Monday), take no position on abortion or contraception, so the woman was incorrect. I hate the world, I really do. Politicians with their “small amount of web-based research” peddle nonsense like this and people eat it up without ever fact checking it. It’s ridiculous how we let them get away with outright lying and there’s never any consequences. Now we have a country full of people who cannot think critically for themselves :/
