Whenever I hear anyone talk about when/where they/their child/whoever was conceived all I can think is “When I get pregnant I better be having so much sex that it’s impossible for me to narrow it down to a specific romp.”

Esperanza, a teenage girl with acute leukemia living in the Dominican Republic, will die if she doesn’t start chemotherapy treatments as soon as possible. But she’s nine weeks pregnant, and her country banned abortion even in cases where the mother’s life is in danger back in 2010.

And here’s yet another reason it’s stupid to outlaw abortion.

This is what pro-lifers want.

So, how does it feel pro-lifers? How does it feel to know you’ve accomplished this?

Love,

Rabble

In response to the anon saying a woman is being spiteful if she still decides to abort even if a dude is willing to raise the kid:

You are welcome to kiss my entire ass.

It’s not just about raising a kid. Pregnancy and childbirth are dangerous medical conditions. Even if a dude wants to raise any resulting child, it would still be the pregnant person putting their health on the line. Let’s also not forget that pregnant people are more likely to be victims of homicide.

Also, while it’s technically illegal, many businesses find ways of firing or letting go pregnant people. Especially lower wage jobs where it would be easier for the employer to get a new hire than it would be to reserve a position for an employee who is pregnant and possibly facing recovery time or increased risk of health problems.

And the final thought: I do not give a FUCK if some dude wants to raise the resulting kid. If a person does not want to be pregnant for any reason, that is their right. It is not spiteful to decide you don’t want to put your body through that trauma or rearrange your life so some dude can be a daddy.

Chances are that dude will get another shot at being a father.

We are not incubators. Fuck off, anon.

"Women of all kinds seek and have always sought abortion: married, single, in their twenties, thirties, and forties, teenagers. Some have no children, some have several already. Some never want children, some want children later. They are churchgoers, atheists, agnostics. They are morally upright pillars of the community, they are prostitutes. They’re promiscuous, they’re monogamous, they’re recent virgins. They get pregnant under all kinds of circumstances: consensual sex, nonconsensual sex, sex that falls somewhere between consensual and nonconsensual. Some are drunk or using drugs, some never even touch an aspirin. Some use no birth control, some use birth control that fails."

(It should be noted that not all people who become pregnant are women.)

To all the Pro-Choice Tumblrs: You did this.

I was never as informed or passionate about Choice as I have become since joining tumblr. Whenever you get one of those asks about how posting things online doesn’t change anything, please look at this. Before tumblr my response to this person would’ve been a simple “not your uterus, not your issue.” Thanks to YOU ALL i was able to actually back myself up with facts and stats from a reliable source. Thanks to YOU ALL I know enough about the gender/sex spectrum to know that “person” is a much better description than “woman,” since not all women can get pregnant and not all pregnant people identify as women. Thanks to YOU ALL I will never back down when a person’s reproductive freedom is in question. I LOVE YOU, YOU PRO-CHOICE BLOGGERS.

(Btw, I’m Kathryn, in case you couldn’t tell, and I didn’t block out names, since this was on a public page on facebook)

Please, please, please get it through your head:

You can not be an unborn baby, because in order to be a baby you HAVE TO BE BORN. That’s how it works. Ask a doctor they will tell you: during pregnancy it can be a fetus, ebryo, zygote, or a blastocyst. Only when it is born can it be called a baby. Know how I know this? Because a baby is something that you can hold in your arms. A baby is something that spits up on you. A baby is something that can survive outside of a uterus. Unless you plan to pass a bill mandating forced organ, tissue, and blood donations you CANNOT force any pregnant person to donate their body (along with their time, energy, money, etc etc)
Why are republican’s obsessed with what’s going on with other people’s uteri? I choose my birth control, meaning I choose whether or not I’m going to have a period. I choose how to take care of the blood. And damn it I’ll be the one deciding when I’m gonna let something that looks like a dinosaur and makes me all tired and fat and pukey hang out in there. Stay out of my body.

i found this extremely interesting. maybe you will too.

According to a survey conducted by the Guttmacher Institute, the United States leads nearly all other developed nations of the world in rates of teenage pregnancy, abortion and childbearing. The United States is the only developed country where teenage pregnancy has been increasing in recent years, with the U.S. rate for teens ages 15 to 19 years standing at 96 per 1,000 girls compared to 14 per 1,000 in the Netherlands, 35 in Sweden, 43 in France, 44 in Canada and 45 in England. It is notable that the teenage abortion percentage alone in the United States is higher than the combined abortion percentages in the five previously mentioned countries. Those developed countries with the most liberal attitudes toward sex, and the most effective formal and informal programs for sex education, have the lowest rates of teenage pregnancy, abortion and childbearing

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Jeremiah 1:5

Imagine that. God’s not talking to everyone ever conceived. Just this one person.

Then you won’t much like this from Ps. 139

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

Hahaha. For every Bible quote saying one thing, you can easily find another saying just the opposite. For instance, from Psalms 137, “Happy is he who dashes the infants upon the rocks.” The Bible is a self-contradictory work of allegorical fiction. For more information on Biblical contradictions, check this out. For a convincing argument that your god isn’t pro-life at all, I direct your attention here. Besides, Psalms is basically a collection of religious poems. There’s no real canonical law in there.

Dear Super Christian Anti-Choicers,
If your God is all knowing, he knows that some women don’t want to be pregnant and will choose to abort. If he’s the one who decides that who will be pregnant and when, he’s choosing to allow women to abort. Not to mention, biologically speaking, in any basic human development class you will learn something important: 15-20% of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. 30-50% of fertilized eggs do not result in pregnancies…and the woman never even knows she was pregnant. If your God was so pro-embryo, you’d think this wouldn’t happen.

Feminists for Choice

What is Choice?
I believe that choice means having the power to make decisions about your own body. These choices include:

  • When, and if, you want to have sex
  • Who you want to have sex with
  • What types of sexual activities are right for you
